President Samia Suluhu Hassan has sent a message of condolence to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Venance Mabeyo on the passing of the Defence and National Service Minister, Elias Kwandikwa.
Mr. Kwandikwa, who doubled as Ushetu Member of Parliament (MP) in Shinyanga, passed away in Dar es Salaam on Monday night. Reports say Kwandikwa was undergoing treatment in Tanzania's commercial city. A State House press statement issued on Tuesday morning stated that Her Excellency has been saddened by the passing of the Minister whose contributions in the public service was great and will not be erased easily.
"We have lost a very important person whose contributions in the public service will never forget... Kwandikwa was a bold leader who discharged his duties in accordance with the country's laws and regulations," she said.
The President, who is concluding her two-day official in Rwanda today, has asked CDF Mabeyo to extend her deep sympathy message to the family, relatives, friends and anyone everyone associated with the deceased.
