Temitope Balogun Joshua, also known as T.B. Joshua, a frontline Nigerian preacher and televangelist, has died aged 57.

Mr. Joshua, the Founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), died in Lagos on Saturday evening shortly after concluding a programme at his church, the churh said his last massage was "Watch and Pray."

The cause of his death was not immediately disclosed, but family sources said his remains had been deposited at the morgue and an autopsy would be performed forthwith.

Mr. Joshua reigned for several decades as a fiery preacher on television, using his platform to attract a large number of Christians from across the world. Emmanuel TV, run by Mr. Joshua's SCOAN, is one of Nigeria's largest Christian broadcast stations, available worldwide via digital and terrestrial switches.

T.B. Joshua has made several visit in Tanzania meeting with state and political leaders.

In 2019, the Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua concluded a two-day event in Nazareth, the historic hometown of Jesus Christ. The event tagged ‘Nazareth Meeting With T.B. Joshua’ was held at the Amphitheatre of Mount Precipice, a site of Biblical significance for Christians. An estimated 15,000 travelled from over 50 nations to attend the event.

It was his first meeting in the Middle East region. “Nazareth is a humble place with people who live at peace. Our goal is to love one another just as ourselves, so everyone is welcome to attend our meetings,” the church said in a statement. “We hope to be a blessing to anyone who interacts with us regardless of their religious or political background.”

Several prominent personalities and political figures, including the Late Tanzanian President John Magufuli – who was represented by his wife Janeth – were in attendance.

H.E. Job Daudi Masima, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania participated the two-day event where he personally met with T.B. Joshua.
