Kagera Regional Commissioner (RC), Brig. Gen. Marco Gaguti has appealed for unity and hard work among Tanzanians to honour the fallen President Dr. John Magufuli.

"As we continue to mourn the sudden demise of our beloved Leader and Head of State, we must maintain unity and work hard to sustain his legacy," he said.

Brig. Gaguti also appealed to residents in the region to turn up in big numbers in Chato on Friday to attend his burial.

Bukoba Catholic Diocese Auxiliary Bishop Methodius Kilaini, on the other hand, eulogized Dr. Magufuli as a patriotic leader who worked tirelessly to fight corruption and improve poor people's lives.

"Dr. Magufuli was a dedicated leader and he will always remain in our hearts. We pray to the almighty God to rest his soul in eternal peace because he used his talent deservedly. We also congratulate Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan (61), for being sworn-in as the first female President of the United Republic of Tanzania," he said.

Jasson Ndabagoye (25), a boda boda rider from Ngara District's Mukididiri village could not hide his tears after hearing the news of President John Magufuli's untimely death.

He is among many Tanzanians from poor families who benefited from free education programme that enabled him to complete his Form Four education at Kanazi Secondary School in 2016.

"Without Dr. Magufuli's efforts many children from poor families could not have afforded to pay school fees. We are grateful to God for sending us this wonderful person," he said.

Immaculatha Damacen (36), a mother of four children from Mulukurazo village is grateful after the completion of a water project. "Our village was also recently connected with reliable electricity under Rural Energy Agency (REA)," she said.

President Magufuli passed away on March 17, 2021 at Mzena Hospital in Dar es Salaam where he was hospitalized after suffering from chronic Atrial Fibrillation, an illness he fought for more than a decade.
