President John Magufuli has made minor changes of the cabinet, appointing Professor Palamagamba Kabudi as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
Prof Kabudi replaces Dr Augustine Mahiga who has been appointed to lead the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs.
Commenting on his appointment, Prof Kabudi promised to embrace respect, trust and hard work when he undertakes his new duties.
He vowed to transform the ministry into an outfit for executing its mandates better, calling on the staff of the ministry to change and strive towards that end.
“Permanent Secretary, Deputy Permanent Secretary and all staff you have a big task to make changes, otherwise, you will be changed,” he said.
Prof Kabudi took the oath alongside Dr Augustine Mahiga, who was appointed Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs on March 4th, 2019.
Speaking after he was sworn in, Dr Mahiga said he spent at least 30 years serving the international community, and so it was a pleasure for him to now serve his country.
Dr Mahiga noted that when served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, he ensured that the international community understood the direction of the current government.
“Foreign Affairs policy is a mirror for home affairs policy...for the period I served in this ministry, I tried my best to make it a mirror for the Fifth Phase Government,” Dr Mahiga explained.
He gave an assurance that Tanzania had many friends and lacked enemies. He also thanked the President for appointing him Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, saying the ministry was a centre for the country’s peace.
