The Parliament on Monday gave a warm welcome to new Clerk of the National Assembly, Nenelwa Mwihambi, who is the first ever woman to serve the post since the Parliament was incepted in 1926.
The House welcomed Ms. Mwihambi during the morning session when the Speaker of the National Assembly Job Ndugai officially introduced her to the lawmakers.,
Addressing the legislators, Mr. Ndugai said women are capable and he has no doubt with Ms. Mwihambi's performance.
Mr. Ndugai commended Ms. Mwihambi for being appointed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to serve the Clerk of the National Assembly post and assured her of fully support in undertaking her new roles.
"We are aware that President Samia Suluhu Hassan made realignment in a number of posts including National Assembly by appointing Ms. Nenelwa Mwihambi new Clerk to place Mr. Stephen Kagaigai who has been appointed as new Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner," said Speaker Ndugai.
He used the platform to call upon the Members of Parliament to accord her the needed support.
